Residence Hall and University of Arizona Police Department (UAPD) Liaison Program
UAPD and Residence Life have joined efforts to institute a liaison program in our hall communities. The program assigns a specific officer(s) to each residence hall. This unique concept allows for a community-oriented/problem-oriented policing approach and encourages residents to get to know members of UAPD. Liaison officers can provide presentations to residents or assist in solving problems common to the entire residence hall. UA Alert is a free service that allows registered users – including University of Arizona students, faculty and staff – to receive emergency alerts on their cell phones or other mobile devices during a campus emergency. UA Alert messages will be sent only during critical situations. This service is free and voluntary, but you are strongly urged to register, as it is the only way you can receive an emergency text message from the UA.
In order to access the registration page, you must first enter your UA NetID and password. While UA Alert is a free service offered by The University of Arizona, you may be charged a standard text messaging fee by your service provider. Registration is simple and it only takes a minute to register for UAlerts.
While you are a student at the University of Arizona and a resident in University housing, you should remember that you are largely responsible for your own personal safety. Here are some precautions:
- When leaving the hall at night, tell your roommate when he/she should expect your return.
- After dark, try not to walk alone. If possible, walk with a friend, or call Safe Ride, or UAPD.
- If you must walk alone, walk with confidence and avoid dark, remote areas.
- Never leave belongings unattended.
- If you are a victim of an attack or other crime, call 911 and a hall staff member as soon as possible.
- Solicitors or suspicious persons are reported by calling 911 and a hall staff member immediately.
- Always carry your keys, CatCard, and if possible, a cell phone.
- Keep your door closed and locked when not in your room and understand that you can enhance your safety and that of your roommate(s) by keeping the door closed and locked at all times.
- Please immediately inform a member of the hall staff about any unsafe conditions or behaviors that threaten the safety or security of your community.
To guard against theft, the University recommends that the following safeguards be observed:
- Record all serial numbers and makes of radios, watches, laptops, CD players, iPods, etc.
- Keep money and valuables in a secure place. Do not keep excessive amounts of cash in your room or on your person.
- Record the numbers of all credit cards and checking accounts; record the addresses of these companies and banks so that they can be notified if cards are lost or stolen.
- Report the presence of any strangers in non-public areas of the residence halls to UAPD and a hall staff member.

CatCard and Door Access Code
Most all of our halls are equipped with a card access system. This system utilizes your CatCard and a four-digit door access code (DAC) number chosen when you checked in to the halls. Only residents of the building can gain access by swiping their cards through the card reader and entering their personal four-digit door access codes. The system is operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week. View this video to help you correctly use your CatCard with the card readers.
Giving your CatCard and door access code number to someone else (including friends, family, significant others, etc.) is a violation of Residence Hall Policies and Procedures for Hall Living, and you will be subject to the Conduct Hearing Process.

You have the ability to change your four-digit door access code in My UAHome at any time after moving in.
