Housing & Residential Life Elevated Cleaning Standards

The following Housing & Residential Life Elevated Cleaning Standards are in place due to COVID-19. Please refer to the University's main Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information page regularly for important campus information.

We are currently using Oxivir® as our disinfectant. This is one of the disinfectants approved by the CDC and EPA. For all approved disinfectants, please visit:

The frequency of our cleaning and disinfecting has been increased by 50%.

Community Restrooms

Twice Daily (Monday-Friday; Once Daily on Saturday & Sunday)

  • Disinfect sinks, counters, faucets, toilets, showers and other high touch areas (walls, dispensers, doors, etc.).

Once Daily

  • Mirrors and floors
  • Refill paper goods (paper towels and toilet paper) as necessary
  • Remove trash and replace with a clean liner

Private, Suite and Pod Restrooms

Students will be responsible for cleaning and disinfecting their own restrooms. This is to limit the possible exposures of entering student’s personal spaces. 

  • Information and best practices will be shared with students as well as a list of recommended cleaning products and tools.
  • A thorough cleaning of all suite, pod and private restrooms will be completed during the month of December. Students will be asked to remove all personal belongings.
  • Cleaning supplies will be available for students who need them.

Community Areas (corridors, lobbies, study rooms, lounges, kitchens, etc.)

  • Disinfect doors, elevator buttons, tables, light switches, card access pin pads, shared community kitchen appliances
