Housing & Residential Life strives to manage student applications in a timely fashion to help students who are on the waiting list to be able to live on campus, however, we are unable to guarantee housing for all students. The waitlist is updated diligently throughout the summer as spaces become available.
Being on the waitlist is not a guarantee of a room. Our team works to offer students on the waitlist a space as soon as they become available. If bedspaces do become available, we will contact you through your CatMail email. Because we cannot guarantee you will be offered a space on campus, you are strongly encouraged to secure housing off-campus. The earlier you do so, the more choices you will have. Please note that if you sign a lease for an off-campus residence but later receive an offer for on-campus housing, you may not be able to cancel your off-campus lease. Be sure to read and understand your lease before you sign it. Once you have signed a lease, you have legally agreed to ALL its terms. For more information about leases, click here.
Housing will update this page regularly with additional updates and information on the status of the waitlist for the 2024-2025 academic year.
TO SIGN UP FOR THE WAITLIST:
- Log in to the housing portal at My UAHome.
- Once you have logged in, click on the “Undergraduate Housing Applications” link in the portal menu, select the application term you are applying for, and complete all available steps of the application.
- Once your waitlist form is complete, you are automatically added to the waitlist according to your submission timestamp.
PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE FOLLOWING:
- The waitlist is not Living Learning Community, room type, or location-specific; it works on a first-come, first-served basis.
- The waitlist is not for students that currently have a completed housing application. A completed housing application means you have paid the non-refundable $175 housing application fee (separate and different from the University's Enrollment Fee), completed the License Agreement (housing contract) by April 1, and paid/completed the $400 Rent Down Payment by May 1. If you have a completed and active housing application, you will have a space in campus housing.
- Roommate groups are not applicable to students who are on the waitlist. If you made a roommate group prior to joining the waitlist (outside of the housing application), it is unlikely that you will receive a space with those roommates.
- All waitlist correspondence will be sent to your CatMail email account. Be sure to check your email often for updates.
- There is no charge to sign up for the waiting list.
- If you sign up for the waitlist and would like to be removed, please log in to My UAHome, click on the “Cancel Housing Application” link in the portal menu, select your application and follow the prompts to cancel the application.
WAITLIST PRIORITIZATION:
New/Incoming students: Housing & Residential Life, in an effort to provide housing to the maximum number of new students possible, uses a priority system as part of our waitlist management policy. Our waitlist is placed into groupings of applicants, and is prioritized by the following:
- If a student has confirmed their continued interest in being on the waiting list
- Housing may periodically ask students to log into the housing portal to reconfirm their interest in being on the waiting list
- If a student has a scholarship that requires the student to live on campus
- The student's place of residence (as provided by the University database)
- The date and time the student registered for the waitlist
Graduate students: Graduate students who are interested at La Aldea, our graduate housing complex, have a different process. Please contact (520) 626-0336 or laaldea@arizona.edu to express your interest in La Aldea.
OFFER SCHEDULE
Offers to activate waiting list applications are based on cancellations and availability, which makes it difficult to set an exact day when offers will be made. All offer emails are sent to the applicant's CatMail email account with details on how to reserve a space. Applicants will have 48 hours to confirm their interest, meaning they will need to log back into the housing portal and pay the $175 non-refundable application fee and complete all available steps of the housing application.
AVOID MISINFORMATION
There may be a lot of misinformation out there, so avoid relying on social media or hearsay, or comparing another Wildcat's circumstance to your own. Instead, visit the Housing & Residential Life website for the most up-to-date information. If you can’t find the answer to your question(s) on our website, contact us at housing@arizona.edu or (520) 621-6501. Our team is here to provide accurate information and guidance.
Frequently Asked Questions
We understand the curiosity about your place on the waitlist, and we wish we could offer more transparency. However, due to the dynamic nature of cancellations throughout the summer, providing exact waitlist positions isn't feasible. It's not just about being first or last on the list; rather, it's about the timing and availability of cancellations, which can fluctuate unexpectedly.
We want to avoid inadvertently raising false hopes by suggesting someone is "relatively high" on the list, only for circumstances to change. Our priority is ensuring everyone finds suitable housing in a timely manner. Waiting too long for a dorm spot might inadvertently limit your options for off-campus housing later on.
Additionally, offering spots from the waitlist depends entirely on the number and timing of cancellations that match the specific room gender you've applied for. Unfortunately, we can't predict when or if these openings will occur. If opportunities do arise, they'll be available only after enough cancellations have been processed.
We truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this process.
There is no charge to sign up for the waiting list. Students who are invited off the waiting list will pay the non-refundable $175 housing application fee (separate and different from the University's Enrollment Fee), complete the License Agreement (housing contract), and pay the $400 Rent Down Payment.
