Your dorm room is more than just a place to sleep — it’s your home while you’re at U of A! We encourage you to decorate your space in a way that reflects your style and helps you feel comfortable and at home.

Before you get started, please review the “Room Decoration" and "Fire Safety” sections in the Policies for Dorm Living for important guidelines, approved items, and limitations. In general, we advise against using decorations that may cause damage to university property. Even if a product is marketed as “damage-free” or “easily removable,” you may still be charged for any damage left behind after you check out. Don't forget to go through the "What to Bring (What NOT to Bring)" Checklists before you Move-In.

Keep in mind that the furniture in your room (see "My Room") can not be removed without prior approval of a housing accommodation request through the Disability Resource Center (DRC). We discourage students from bringing additional furniture, and personal belongings should not encroach on a roommate’s space.

Please make sure to report any damage that is already present when you check in on your Room Condition Report in My UAHome within the first 14 days.

If you have any questions or concerns about room decorations, reach out to your Resident Assistant (RA) or Community Director (CD)—they're here to help! Thank you for decorating safely and respectfully!
