Housing & Residential Life recently inaugurated its new Welcome Center – a hub designed to enhance accessibility and support for students and families transitioning to college life.

Over the years, Housing has evolved from various administrative spaces across campus, including Slonaker House and the Babcock dorm, to its current administrative offices at El Portal along Highland Ave. Recognizing the need for a more functional and user-friendly space, the Welcome Center features a fully-staffed customer service team, a dedicated front desk for controlled access and showcases a dorm room mock-up, offering a glimpse into on-campus living as a Wildcat.

"The new Welcome Center not only provides a centralized location for inquiries and resources but also integrates enhanced security measures to ensure a safe environment for our staff and visitors," noted executive director and chief housing officer Alex Blandeburgo.

As the University of Arizona continues to innovate and expand, Housing's new Welcome Center symbolizes a continued commitment to student success. It represents a physical space and a symbol of support and accessibility for all Wildcat family members.

Research shows that students who live on campus for at least one year typically achieve a GPA that is 10% higher than those who do not. Additionally, students who live on campus have a higher four-year graduation rate compared to their off-campus peers, highlighting the integral role living on campus can have in student retention and success.

The Housing & Residential Life Welcome Center is open weekdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and will be a featured stop during Arizona Ambassador campus tours.
